Deterrence with respect to video surveillance is ofen mistaken for the word prevention.
Q: Will video surveillance prevent all crimes or all unwanted
activities?
A: No, but the presence of cameras will deter many would-be
offenders to go elesewhere.
No video system will PREVENT crimes or unwanted activity from happening; however, it is a documented fact that the presence of cameras does change many people's behaviors. If a thief were to happen to case your home or business and notice that you have surveillance cameras installed, there is a very good chance that criminal would simply elect to go elsewhere.
The converse is also true... if you don't have cameras installed; you're a PRIME CANDIDATE for a would-be criminal.
